ALIA welcomes two Directors to its Board

As well as two current Directors renewed for three-year terms

ALIA is pleased to announce that the Benchers of the Law Society of Alberta have approved ALIA’s recommendation for the appointment of Ken Warren, KC, and Tim D’Souza to ALIA’s Board of Directors, as well as the renewal of Directors Melanie Litoski and Salimah Walji‑Shivji, KC, each for three‑year terms.

Ken Warren, KC, is a Calgary litigation lawyer with extensive professional liability defence experience and a long‑time Subscriber of ALIA. He practised for nearly four decades with Gowling WLG (and its predecessor firm, Code Hunter), focusing on commercial dispute resolution, shareholder disputes, executive employment law, professional liability defence, and mediation, until retiring as a partner in June 2024. Ken has leadership and governance experience, having served as a Bencher from 2018 to 2023, including as President of the Law Society of Alberta, and more recently as Integrity Commissioner for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. He now carries on a private arbitration and mediation practice.

Tim D’Souza is an Ontario‑based business professional with more than 30 years of finance, consulting, and leadership experience across the private and non‑profit sectors. His career includes senior roles with organizations such as IBM, Pet Valu, and Sun Life Financial, followed by executive leadership positions in the non‑profit sector, including Chief Operating Officer of Children Believe and, since 2021, Senior Vice President, Finance and Business Operations at Diabetes Canada. Tim brings extensive governance experience, currently serving on multiple public, regulatory, and non‑profit boards including the OMERS Sponsors Corporation Board, and the Canada Revenue Agency. He holds a BA, an MA, an MBA from the Yale School of Management (in Finance and Strategy), and CPA and CMA designations.

ALIA thanks the Benchers for their approval and looks forward to working with each of the Directors.
